United Self-Defense of Colombia

Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia is an extreme right-wing paramilitary organization, called Parados, led by Carlos Castaño Gil in 2000, who gets help from landowners, beef breeders, oil companies and politicians. Also the mafia who acts in cocaine. Their task is to disable members and leaders of farmers and unions, but also members and leaders of the FARC and their sponsors, where they constantly carry on war. The AUC would originate in 1997 and be lifted in 2008, but there are still signals in Colombia that suspect that the AUC has gone underground.

The Human Rights Watch claims to be guilty of extortion, threat, murder and rape. Under the leadership of Salvatore Mancuso, son of Italian immigrants, the AUC also worked for the Calabria Ndrangheta. They sell drugs to them. They would also carry out paramilitary actions on Venezuelan territory. President Hugo Chávez felt seriously threatened by the AUC and thought that every right person worked with them to kill him.
